Join FSC!

Become a member of FSC to show you stand behind the mission and values of FSC.

How Membership Works

FSC members are individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations that share the goals of FSC and the commitment to forest stewardship. Membership is chamber balanced among three chambers: environmental, economic and social.

FSC-US members are members of FSC-International who reside in the United States. By joining, you become a member of FSC-International and also hold membership rights in the United States, including the ability to sit on, and vote for, the FSC-US Board of Directors.

Why Join?

To Apply

As a participatory membership-based organization, FSC relies on individuals, businesses and organizations to demonstrate support of, and strengthen, this global movement. The membership is also the highest level of leadership, and members have a voice and vote in governance and policy setting. Benefits include:

  • Participation in developing and voting on policy "motions" at FSC's General Assembly, the main forum for FSC decision-making
  • Eligibility to sit on FSC-US and FSC-International Board of Directors
  • Voting rights on governance and policy decisions, including Board of Directors and General Assembly motions
  • Networking opportunities with other members and access to cutting-edge information.

Membership Chambers

  • Economic Chamber: Includes organizations and individuals with an interest in commercial forest products entities. (Examples: certification bodies, industry and trade associations, wholesalers, retailers, consumer associations, and consulting companies).
  • Social Chamber: Intended for indigenous organizations and social movements.
  • Environmental Chamber: Limited to non-profit, non-governmental organizations.

Research, academic, technical institutions, and individuals are eligible to become members. The FSC Board will determine their designation to a particular chamber. Government organizations are not eligible to become members. (The governing board of FSC member organizations must also be independent of government organizations.)
