Jury Comments
This 67-acre mixed-use development is an extraordinary project, both in terms of scale and reach. With more than $41 million worth of FSC-certified wood used, CityCenter represents the greatest use of FSC-certified wood in a single project in the United States to date. The use of wood in design is superb and extensive, but not overpowering. Varied curvature and joinery make the most of wood as an expressive material and organic form, but it is still restrained and tasteful. That so much of it is FSC-certified adds an added degree of richness. CityCenter has been a strong market driver for FSC: more than 10 wood suppliers received FSC Chain of Custody certification in order to supply wood to the project, and more than 100 professionals such as interior designers, architects and general contractors gained exposure to wood supply chains and environmentally preferable products. LEED-certified CityCenter will help spread the FSC message widely with a new audience: the millions who visit Las Vegas each year.
Use of FSC-Certified Products

Words of Praise
"WOW!!! Even though this big project in the desert will put increased demand on the water systems of the Southwest, it's still hard to deny CityCenter's huge green impact. As far as a project that has driven the national demand for FSC Chain of Custody suppliers and products, this is it — and it deserves to be recognized for that."
