Corey Brinkema
President
Corey Brinkema joined the Forest Stewardship Council US in 2007 and serves as chief executive officer of the largest national office of the FSC global network. Corey brings 25 years of experience and commitment to sustainable development. He has served in both technical and managerial capacities in such diverse fields as green building, renewable energy, industrial ecology and hazardous waste remediation. Prior to joining FSC, Corey served as Executive Director of Minnesota-based Green Institute, a regional leader in green building. Corey is a graduate of Dartmouth College and earned his M.B.A. at the University of Michigan. |
Emily Crumley
Manager, Chain-of-Custody

Emily is the primary FSC-US liaison for FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) certificate holders, and is responsible for assisting companies to understand CoC policies and procedures and to maximize their benefit as a certificate holder. Emily also leads activities related to linking supply chain members to enhance market efficiencies and encourage uptake of forest management certification.
Emily brings with her four years of experience with FSC through her work with the Rainforest Alliance, an FSC-accredited Certification Body, where she successfully helped hundreds of wood products companies achieve FSC CoC Certification. Previously, she worked for the St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department on native ecosystem restoration.
Emily holds a BS in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies with a minor in Forest Resources from the University of Minnesota. |
Gary Dodge
Director of Science and Certification

Gary is responsible for programs designed to ensure FSC system integrity and increase uptake of FSC certification by forest managers in the US.
Gary leads our work in developing and applying US and international standards and policies for forest management. He is also charged with promoting the values of FSC certification in green building and other manufacturing certification programs where forest products are used. Finally, Gary works to develop tools for efficient and effective certification of forest management, facilitate access of the FSC system to small landowners, increase access to ecosystem service markets, and assist development of chain of custody and market linkages.
Gary comes to FSC-US with over twenty years of professional experience as a conservation biologist and ecologist and holds a Ph.D. in plant ecology. Gary is based in Placerville, CA. |
Ian Hanna
Director of Business Development

Ian’s primary responsibility at the Forest Stewardship Council US is ensuring both strong growth and diversification of the organization’s revenue base. His work includes developing new relationships with corporations, trade associations, and NGOS, as well as ensuring that FSC is positioned for emerging markets in the U.S. Ian also manages FSC-US’s regional market development programs, which are currently active in the Northwest, Southeast, and Lake States – Midwest. Ian has 20 years of broad experience in the FSC system including forest management, family forest certification, small-scale production and sales, and market development, including ecosystem services markets such as carbon offsets. He is trained as a forest ecologist and has worked for The Nature Conservancy, Certified Forest Products Council, Northwest Natural Resource Group, and as a private consultant. He also founded Windfall Lumber, one of the first chain of custody certified businesses in Washington State.

Brad Kahn

Brad Kahn joined Forest Stewardship Council US as communications director in 2010, where he manages organizational communications and outreach. From the monthly newsletter and website to Greenbuild and media engagement, Brad helps shape FSC-US’ message and strategies to reach a wide array of audiences. For the past 12 years Brad has worked in communications, serving nonprofit organizations focused on environmental issues. He has a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a B.A. in economics from Brown.

Etienne McManus-White

Etienne McManus-White joined the Forest Stewardship Council US in 2011 to lead all marketing strategies and communications. Etienne brings more than 15 years of brand management and marketing experience. Prior to joining the FSC, Etienne worked as VP Marketing for US specialty retailers Wet Seal Inc. and Christopher & Banks. Before her US retail experience, Etienne spent more than a decade with advertising agencies Fallon Worldwide and Leo Burnett leading international marketing efforts for brands as diverse as Citibank, Nintendo and Procter & Gamble. Etienne is a graduate of Bristol University, England. |
Darrel Pendris
Southeastern Regional Manager

Darrel Pendris joined the Forest Stewardship Council US in 2011, bringing a vast array of experience from his work as the executive director of the National Woodland Owners Association, and with The Home Depot, the Virginia Department of Forestry, the Navy and as a private forestry consultant. Darrel oversees FSC’s work in the Southeastern US, to help grow new supply of FSC-certified wood and pulp, and to build the regional marketplace for FSC-certified products. Darrel lives in Culpeper, VA.

Paul Pingrey
Family Forests Program Manager

Paul develops tools and educational resources to establish and maintain FSC-certified family forest groups. He provides consultation to emerging groups and policy guidance to FSC certification bodies. Paul came to FSC-US in 2010 following a 35-year forestry career with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He helped guide certification for 6 million acres of Wisconsin forestry programs including a 43,000 member FSC-certified family forest “super group”. He served on the national panel that developed the FSC-US Family Forest Indicators. Paul received a forestry degree from Iowa State University and has been a professional resource manager since 1974. |
Annika Terrana

Annika joined Forest Stewardship Council US as Projects Manager in 2011, where she is responsible for acting as liaison to the board of directors, organizing and executing large conferences and meetings, and engaging current and growing US-based membership. Previously, Annika served as Eco-Awareness Coordinator and founding member of the Organic Health Response, addressing environmental health and local deforestation in the remote shores of Lake Victoria, Kenya. She has also organized and facilitated community outreach and educational service-learning opportunities for local youth, focusing on deforestation and endangered species. Annika holds a B.A. in History and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
