Development Manager 
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Forest Stewardship Council U.S. National Office (FSC-US) seeks an accomplished professional to manage a diverse set of fundraising activities in this rapidly growing organization.
POSITION & RESPONSIBILTIES
The Development Manager will manage all activities related to grant writing and management, recruitment and tracking of donor opportunities, and oversight of FSC-US donations programs. They must be a master of their craft, operate effectively in rapidly changing conditions, and perform well as part of the national team of FSC-US staff.
This full-time staff position is based at the FSC-US National Office in Minneapolis, MN and reports to the Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate should be experienced in the development field, knowledgeable of forest conservation and/or certification systems, well-networked, ambitious and highly self-motivated, with a team-focused spirit and the passion to help build the capacity and reach of this quickly growing organization. Key responsibilities of the Development Manager include:
- Research, identification and recruitment of new donor relationships.
- Tracking and projection of funding opportunities to assist the financial management team.
- Grant writing, management, and reporting for a full range of funding sources.
- Design and build strategies aimed at increasing private donations, both small donors and high net worth individuals, for FSC-US.
An ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and at least five years related experience in development.
- Strong knowledge of fundraising standards, both performance and ethics.
- Positive and broad relationships within fundraising associations, funding agencies, service and technology providers, high net worth individuals, and other key groups.
- Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals, including the capacity to organize strategic meetings bringing together key partners.
- Proven organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility to quickly changing situations and priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in MS Office, CRM and other standard business software.
- A customer service mindset, including the ability to be courteous, personable, and tactful when dealing with FSC’s full range of stakeholders.

Systems Integrity Manager 
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Forest Stewardship Council U.S. National Office (FSC-US) seeks a highly motivated individual to provide project management support and leadership for two global projects being implemented by FSC–International Center:
- FSC traceability/claims platform: when fully implemented this platform will streamline the record-keeping process for FSC certificate holders and certification bodies.
- Wood science as a tool for quality assurance: this project will investigate the feasibility of implementing a program to identify inaccurate product claims using the latest wood science technologies and procedures.
This full-time position, based at the Minneapolis office, will provide support for the full range of activities within these two projects with assistance from senior staff and project partners in the U.S. and internationally.
POSITION & RESPONSIBILTIES
The Systems Integrity Manager will execute projects related to systems integrity and quality assurance within the FSC system and report to FSC’s Systems Integrity Director. The Systems Integrity Manager will provide project management support for the development of an internet-based traceability/claims platform for the FSC chain of custody system and manage projects related to the use of wood and fiber testing into the FSC system.
Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of a global online traceability/claims platform to work alongside the existing FSC Chain of Custody system.
- Support and develop projects on the use wood and fiber science as tools in the FSC system.
- Work closely with vendors, project partners and other stakeholders to understand requirements for projects.
- Develop close working relationships with key stakeholders to successfully execute projects.
- Plan, forecast and refine projects using appropriate tools.
- Coordinate the delivery of planning, communications, IT systems integration, training and online services to stakeholders.
- Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
- Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, presentations, communication materials and trainings.
- Other tasks as requested by management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and related experience in project management (PRINCE2 methodology preferred), supply chain traceability, certification systems, and QA/QC.
- A proven track record of successful project implementation and change management in a demanding environment, preferably retail.
- Proven organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities.
- Demonstrated experience with project management software.
- Strong cross-cultural skills and an ability to work across languages, cultures and organizational structures.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently internationally and domestically.

Operations and Special Projects Intern 
POSITION OVERVIEW
FSC-US seeks an accomplished intern to support program operations, including research, analysis, marketing and administration.
POSITION & RESPONSIBILTIES
Reporting to the Office Manager, the Intern will conduct research, analysis and manage or support special projects. He/she will assist staff in the maintenance of the FSC-US database as well as other tasks. This position is located at our Minneapolis office and requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least a six-month period. FSC-US will pay a $600 per month stipend and cover all direct expenses.
The ideal candidate should be ambitious and team-oriented, with a passion for forest conservation, social equity and market transformation. Exact Duties may change, dependent on the candidate’s experience. Proposed projects will include:
- Conduct market research and analysis in various forest products industry sectors (commodity and specialty building materials, furniture, paper, tissue, packaging, etc.)
- Identify and conduct research on financing mechanisms that support forest owners in achieving FSC certification
- Conduct research on “stepwise” programs to achieving FSC certification
- Create a directory of organizations that reference FSC in procurement or sustainability policies
- Provide database support to staff, inputting information with the goal of expanding the FSC contact network, managing existing contacts, and managing various campaigns
- Follow and create updates for staff on relevant social media sites (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
- Assist with event coordination and other administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will currently be enrolled in a master’s program and commit to work throughout the school year. They will also have:
